Fastag Recharge

The National Highway Authority of India has created the best roads for the citizens and for these roads, the citizens have to pay the Tolls at the NHAI’s Toll Plazas. Fastag is a small device which uses the Radio Frequency Identification technology in order to pay the tolls while the vehicle has been moving. The Fastag usually links the account and then sticks it to the windshield. The Fastag can be used for 5 years and it has to be recharged whenever it is necessary. The Fastag sticker can be used at almost 750 toll plazas in India which also includes the National and State Highways. From 1 January 2021, it has become mandatory for the four wheeler vehicles or above.

The Fastag uses the special sticker which is the RFID tag which can be stuck on the vehicle’s front windshield. The tag has the unique number which has been linked to the account. While you have been driving through the Toll Plaza, the camera device at the plaza reads the tag number and the amount is deducted through the account and this protects you from staying in long queues and making the payments easy through the card or net banking. The recharge from the card can be done through the UPI and this Fastag helps to reduce the traffic congestion and helps to make traveling in a better mode. The main aim of this is to support digital payment and to improve transparency.

If you have a sufficient balance in the fastag, you can use it at the Toll Plaza and in case there is less balance, you will have to use the cash payment.
