How To Use Fastag?
The National Highways Authority of India is the Statutory body which is regulating the actions of the road and transport. Since the best highways are provided to the citizens, the taxes are charged from them in the form of toll taxes. Every National Highway has toll booths and the taxes are collected at them in different lanes. The toll booths use the Fastag to collect the taxes and it is a small device which makes use of the RFID technology which automatically pays the tolls while the vehicle is in motion. What is Fastag?
The Fastag is the rectangular device which makes use of the RFID Technology which automatically reads the barcode attached to the card. The card is affixed to the windshield of the vehicle and once you reach the toll booth, the amount is deducted from the bank account which is linked to the card. The fastag has been mandatory for all starting from 1 January 2021.
Using Fastag
- Purchase the Fastag through Bank or online platforms.
- After purchasing it, you need to activate it
- Affix the fastag on the vehicle’s windshield
- Now link the Fastag to the bank account
- Provide all the details of your vehicle
- You shall ensure you have enough balance in the account
- Moving through the toll plaza, the RFID reader shall detect the Fastag
- The toll amount shall be deducted and you will get the notification in the form of SMS for the deducted amount and the balance left in the account.
How To Activate Fastag?
- You shall login to the respective application first
- Enter the 4 digit PIN provided on your mobile number
- Select the Fastag Icon
- Enter the number of your vehicle
- Select the model of the vehicle and then agree to the terms and conditions
- Enter the email id and the postal address
- Select the account and then proceed further.
How To Affix Fastag?
- Remove the liner from the Fastag sticker
- Stick the Fastag from then inside of the windshield towards the top middle side
- Press the sticker to the main mirror of the vehicle
- Ensure the adhesive side of Fastag is towards the outside
- Check the don’t while fixing it
- If the adhesive is not accurate return the Fastag and get a new one.
- Never use a cello tape to fix it
- Don’t ever peel off or reposition the Fastag.

It shall be placed on the top center of the windshield behind the rearview mirror and the area shall be clean and dry before the placement.
